What is the Low Pressure Space?
What is a “Fan”/ “Blower”/ “Compressor” ….it depends on whom you ask.
According to ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers defines by Pressure Ratio
Fan: Pressure ratio up to 1.11
Blower: Pressure ratio from 1.11 to 1.2
Compressor: Pressure ratio exceeds 1.2
API – American Petroleum Institute defines by Pressure
Fan: < 3 psig
Blower: 3 – 5 psig
Compressor: > 5 psig
On Wikipedia it is said that…
Fans produce air flows with high volume and low pressure…
….Compressors produce high pressures at a comparatively low volume.
How PD Blower Technology works
A pair of rotors turn in opposite directions, meshing together like 2 gears. There is no contact within machine, just very small clearances (1,000ths of inches) Pockets of air are trapped between the rotor-lobes and the housing – these pockets of air are transported around the housing to the discharge side of the machine.
